Pennies for Bread and the Abbey bake hundreds of loaves a week for shelters throughout St.Tammany Parish and New Orleans assisting Katrina victims. Their bread is distributed to many shelters such as Ozanam Inn, Mercy Endeavors, Haven House, Covington Food Bank, Samaritan Center, Brantley Baptist Center and many others. Council on Aging helps many senior citizens with meals, medical, and transportation needs. The Council on Aging has lost seven vans to Katrina.
