Donations are used to assist blind clients with their recovery from Hurricane Katrina. Funds will be used to purchase clothes, appliances, furniture, beds, blind-related equipment, blankets, toasters, dishes, curtains, and more. Most of the clients are struggling to pay for these items.

Pennies for Bread and the Abbey bake hundreds of loaves a week for shelters throughout St.Tammany Parish and New Orleans assisting Katrina victims. Their bread is distributed to many shelters such as Ozanam Inn, Mercy Endeavors, Haven House, Covington Food Bank, Samaritan Center, Brantley Baptist Center and many others.
