GIA Certified Diamonds

Why GIA Certification Matters
AND WHY THE PERSON READING THE REPORT MATTERS EVEN MORE
The Gemological Institute of America created the 4C grading system that the entire diamond industry uses worldwide. A GIA grading report is the most trusted third-party assessment of a diamond’s quality — color, clarity, cut and carat weight evaluated by expert gemologists against a rigorous standard.
But a report is only as useful as the person interpreting it. Two diamonds with identical GIA grades on paper can vary in price by 50 to 70 percent — and in beauty by even more. The location of inclusions, the interaction of light, the subtleties of cut that affect sparkle — these are things you see with trained eyes, not on a certificate. Anne Dale has those eyes.
What Anne Brings To Every Diamond Purchase
40 YEARS OF HANDS-ON DIAMOND EVALUATION
She Reads The Report — And The Stone
Anne evaluates every diamond against its GIA report in person — confirming the grading, assessing the actual light performance and identifying any characteristics the report cannot fully convey.
She Has Bought At The Source
Anne has sourced diamonds in Antwerp — the world’s diamond capital — and through the same professional wholesale networks that supply the largest online retailers. That firsthand market knowledge means competitive pricing and informed stone selection.
She Can Explain The Price Difference
When two GIA certified stones of the same grade differ significantly in price Anne can show you exactly why — side by side, under magnification, in plain language. That education is part of every diamond consultation at no extra charge.
She Is The IRS Expert Witness Standard
The federal government has designated Anne as an Expert Witness in jewelry valuation. When she tells you what a diamond is worth — that opinion carries the same weight in a courtroom that it does across the counter.

Understanding The 4Cs
THE FRAMEWORK GIA CREATED — EXPLAINED IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
✦
Cut
The most important C. Cut determines how light moves through the stone — its brilliance, fire and sparkle. An excellent cut makes a lower color or clarity grade disappear. A poor cut kills an otherwise beautiful stone.
✦
Color
GIA grades color D through Z — D being completely colorless, Z showing visible yellow or brown tint. The sweet spot for most buyers is G to I — near colorless, virtually indistinguishable from D-F to the naked eye, at a significantly better price.
✦
Clarity
Clarity measures inclusions — the natural characteristics inside the stone. FL is flawless. Most stones sold for engagement rings fall in the VS1 to SI2 range. Eye-clean SI1 stones can be exceptional value — but only if the inclusions are in the right location.
✦
Carat
Carat is weight — not size. Two stones of the same carat weight can look very different depending on their cut proportions. A well-cut 0.90ct stone can appear larger than a poorly cut 1.00ct stone and cost considerably less.
Conflict Free — Our Commitment
KIMBERLEY PROCESS CERTIFIED — ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
Every diamond at Anne Dale Jewelers is conflict free. We source exclusively through dealers who adhere to the Kimberley Process — the international certification system that today regulates nearly 99% of the worldwide rough diamond supply. The Kimberley Process was established through cooperation between governments, the diamond industry and human rights organizations specifically to eliminate the trade in conflict diamonds.
Anne purchases only from the most respected diamond cutters who monitor their stones from mine to market. Every diamond we sell is absolutely promised to be conflict free — not as a marketing claim but as a sourcing standard we enforce with every purchase we make.
